Interesting Use of green snooker baize-the Muffin Man.

What comes to mind when someone mentions green baize? Snooker tables, billiards tables, or the muffin man?!

In Victorian London, The Muffin man was a common site. He would walk through the streets, ringing a bell, and carrying a tray of muffins on his head. This tray would be lined with green baize. (You can’t really see that in a black and white photo, but anyway..)

Today baize is more commonly seen on snooker tables, pool tables and billiards tables.  The image above shows an antique snooker table, restored and re-covered in green snooker table baize by Browns Antiques.
